In the Spotlight: NYX Eye Pencils Swatches

It's a little past midnight on my side of the globe and though I know I should be sleeping, I can't get myself to snooze. Rather than waste my time staring at the ceiling, I thought it'd be more productive of me to post swatches of some eye pencils from NYX which I purchased not too long ago.

NYX is one of those inexpensive brands that I love. Sadly, we don't have a NYX counter here in Manila. So here's li'l me hoping that NYX will soon decide to bring their amazing products to my country. I know I 've said this before, but I'll say it again. It just goes to show how much of a wishful thinker I am.

I haven't tried half of what's on the NYX website, but judging from experience, NYX products deliver well at a price that'll never make you feel guilty. I would splurge on a ton of NYX products if they'll hold another sale as big as their 10th Anniversary sale and if they'll ship to my country coz as much as I love NYX, I don't want to be always purchasing from online sellers in my country who mark up their prices a good deal. I know and understand where they're coming from. They shoulder the shipping fee to a US address, shipping fee to the Philippines, customs tax, and what not, yes, I understand that they're just trying to make profit from the items they sell; however, at times I feel cheated coz I pay more than the items' original price. I have nothing against these sellers coz all the NYX products I have were bought from a couple of multiply sellers. One of the many sellers on multiply sell NYX products that's cheaper by a great deal compared to others; however, this lady has not arranged a pool of orders as of yet.

Anyway, before I bore you with my endless rants, here are the swatches of three NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils and four NYX Slim Eye Pencils. If you're wondering why I don't have a swatch of Black Bean, it's because 1. these swatches were taken a month and a half ago and 2. I just got it [Black Bean] a couple of days ago. Though I know that you guys have already seen swatches of Black Bean all over the internet, I'll just describe how it applies on the skin (I might edit this post and add a swatch of it [Black Bean]). Black Bean is a creamy matte black eye pencil that applies very smoothly on the lid and on the lashline. It's just the black counterpart of Milk, the creamy matte white swatch, third from left.

From L to R: Iced Mocha, Cottage Cheese, Milk, Medium Brown, Auburn, Teal and Electric Blue.

So there you have it ladies. I hope this swatch post was helpful to you, especially if you don't know which ones to purchase (I know how swatches on both the NYX website and Cherry Culture suck). I know there are a ton of swatches of NYX products that can be easily viewed with one click but I thought I'd share these to you as well.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Don't forget to wake up with a beautiful smile and face the world with your head held high.

Here's to a good night sleep!

NOTW: Weng Weng + Latest Haul

I did my nails again. I got a little bored with my Christmas nails so I decided to change it to something prettier two nights ago.

I was choosing between this shade called Weng Weng (ridiculous, I know) and a pretty sparkly sky blue one called Sleigh (both from Bobbie), until I decided to paint Weng Weng on my nails.

As you can see, Weng Weng is a gorgeous but very complex hue. It looks somewhat like a hologram to me, with touches of purple, blue, green, gray and silver. The micro glitters/sparklers are another complex thing. Oh, and there's some kind of a purplish pearly iridescence to it, too. Really, I can't describe this shade. It's such a gorgeous shade that gives a somewhat sophisticated appeal.

This shade is so one of a kind. I've seen nothing quite like this shade here in the Philippines. I'm not sure if this is part of Bobbie's holiday collection, so I suggest you grab yourself a bottle of it and their other nail polishes. I will surely get myself a back up of this as I see myself wearing this color on both my tips and toes for quite a long time. I guess the complex but beautiful tones of this nail polish make up for the silly name, eh?

I am in love with it. The photo just doesn't do it justice.

Before I end this quick post and go back to sleep since I'm still feverish, I'll post a photo of my latest haul for the week. I have about three packages coming next week, though I'm not sure if I'll be posting those. I just thought I'd add this one.

1. ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer Duo
2. NYX Runway Collection 10pc Eyeshadow Palette in Champagne and Caviar
3. ELF Mineral Blush in Tickled Pink
4. ELF Mineral Blush in Peachy Keen
5. NYX Long Lip Pencil in Pinky
6. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean
7. NYX Round Lipstick in Fig (Finally!)

a. The Face Shop Mask
b. Sample of UDPP
c. Wine Elixir sample (anti-wrinkle and firming night cream)
d. Aqua Vita sample (24hour moisturizing cream for normal/dry skin)

Will do reviews and swatches of these in the coming weeks! So keep an eye on them!

*Sorry for the crappy picture quality. I took all pictures with my phone since I'm still sick.

Lippy-ya-yo: NYX Lipstick Collection

I hope you girls are having a blast this weekend. Mine was great, albeit tiring with all the walking I did on uneven pavement with my Steve Madden heels. I should probably get a back up of it, or maybe get the brown one. Ugh. I wish they had it in red. Unfortunately, the SA told me that they have only three colors for that particular style: black, brown and yellow. Yellow?! What was Steve Madden thinking?! I would have forgiven him if it were mustard yellow. But no, they were sunshine yellow! Oh well. I guess I'll have to scour Aldo, Nine West and some other shoe stores down here for that perfect red heels. Or... I could ask my beloved to get them for me in the States. Ohhhh... If only my feet weren't too small. They give me a hell of hard time looking for shoes in American shoe outlets. If anyone knows where I could find sexy yet comfortable heels for my 5.5 size feet (by the way, I'm a stiletto lover. I'm just not a fan of chunky heels. I think my feet look funny in them), kindly leave your suggestions in the comment box. Thank you girls in advance!

Moving on.

I'm done with my AVON lipstick collection; but here's another one for all you lipstick lovers out there. I'll have another one coming in a few days, so you dolls watch out for it.

Here's my favorite lipstick brand with some of my favorite shades. I'm still gonna be purchasing a few more lippies (and eyeshadows!) from NYX in the next few weeks or so, and of course, I'll be sharing them with you as well. Since color swatches on the NYX website and Cherry Culture are so far from the actual, I hope ya'll find this post helpful whether or not you're planning on purchasing from NYX. I've swatched Tea Rose, B52 and Rea in a previous post, so if you want to see how those colors would look on the lips, click here. You can also read my two cents worth on NYX lippies when you click the link.

Thalia: An MLBB shade for those with muted pink lips. It's perfect to wear on casual days.
Perfect: Here's another MLBB shade. It's in the same color family as B52, only paler. It's a good muted pinky-brown shade that should suit all skin tones.
Femme: A bright coral shade that amps up your look. I wore this last night and it gave me that awake look. Love it!
Snow White: The perfect red lipstick for me! This makes me look like a million dollars! I'm so glad I have this in my stash.

You'll never go wrong with NYX lipsticks. If you don't like the shade that you got, it wouldn't hurt so much coz it's just $3.50!

Enjoy the swatches dolls! (just excuse the messy application. haha!)

Lippy-ya-yo: NYX Round Lipsticks

I know the title is a bit lame. It’s just that my plain self couldn’t think of something more fun and catchy than this; and since I am pretty boring myself and I’m really not that creative with my writing, I’ll just stick to my pathetic title.

As you might have guessed, this post is going to be about lipsticks, though I’m not much of a lipstick junkie. I hate how some lipsticks give my lips a slight burning sensation and also tend to make them dry even with a lip balm underneath. Besides, I used to lick my lips a lot; so wearing lipsticks on a typical day would require me to control the urge to lick the color off my puckers. Since I really barely cared much about how I look, I would just usually lick my lips to keep them hydrated. At times, I even bite them. Well, I thought I was hydrating my lips by licking them. It turns out, I was wrong. Licking your lips will actually dry them out even more as our saliva contains saline!

Fast forward to the present.

Having someone to look good for and being a manager have made me spend a wee more time on myself. If I used to wear only translucent powder (plus concealer for my dark under eyes), I now pretty much leave my house with a full on make up that never looks over the top. In fact, I recently have not gone out of my house without a lip gloss or lipstick on my puckers.

Now that I’m getting quite addicted to collecting make up (note: I use all that I purchase), I’m starting to expand my lipstick collection aside from my blush and mascara collections. With that, I purchased three round lipsticks from NYX, a very popular brand in the US that's pretty much comparable to MAC. A lot of ladies are in love with these babies; did I fall in love with them, too? Keep scrolling to find out.

Now I present a part of my NYX haul.

What I love about them:

· They’re so amazingly creamy. They glide on my lips like butter.

· They’re moisturizing

· The color pay-off is great

· The ingenious packaging is cool (I’m referring to the bottom part of the lipstick where you see what lippie’s shade is without having to open it or read the label)

· The wide color selection makes my jaw drop and my mind go on a frenzy, in a good way (I get giddy when I’m on NYX’s website. I feel like wanting to put everything in my cart. Haha!)

· They got no annoying scent (they actually have no scent at all), unlike some lipsticks.

· The price cannot be beaten. For the quality you get with every item purchased, it’s really absolutely comparable to MAC.

What I hate about them:

· Lasting power is average, and I don’t mind at all. Like most regular lipsticks (not the colorstay ones), NYX lippies come off after eating, although not entirely.

· None else.

Will I repurchase?

I’m thinking of getting a back up of Rea and some other shades from this particular line. In fact, I’m eyeing Circe (unfortunately, it’s always out of stock), Iris, Hello, Echo, Metes, Celene, Hermes, Ceto, Honey, Cream, Tea, Vitamin, Java, Frappucino, Twist, Fig, Orange Soda, and Snow White. Whew! So, I guess that’s a yes, eh?

What's your favorite NYX round lipstick?
