Another Award

Here's another award from the very deep Abby of Breathing Space (waves!). This award is called the Meme Award. I'm not sure what this implies but I'll go ahead with the rules of acceptance.

Rules of acceptance:
1) Acknowledge the person who sent you the award.
2) Nominate 7 other blogs.
3) Share your 7 personality traits so we can get to know you better.

  1. Perfectionist

I’m barely ever satisfied with the things I do, be it writing, make up application, etc., which explains I frequently edit or alter everything that I do. I’m not proud to be a perfectionist coz I’m very much aware that nothing in this world is and could be perfect, which is why I struggle to break free from my Utopia. I have to snap back to reality and realize that things can not be and never be how I wish they would be --- perfect.

  1. Workaholic

I work 8-10hours a day, five times a week, including holidays. We do not observe Philippine holidays except for New Year, and some religious ones like Christmas, Holy Week and All Saints’ Day. Other than these holidays, I slave in the office together with my thirty something people. And if that’s not enough, I work even when I’m sick. It’s not that I have to, but the fact that I don’t have an assistant sort of compels me to work regardless of the situation.

I also can’t sleep or rest when I know there’s something that has to be done or completed. If I have to skip meals or pull an all-nighter to finish the task, I would. That’s how workaholic I can get sometimes. I rarely put off things, unless it’s something not as imp

ortant or relevant.

Another proof is that I cannot sit still and do nothing. I detest being idle even when I’m sick. I have to have something to do, whether it be work, or in this case, blogging.

  1. Headstrong

My mom frequently recounts how my dad wasn’t able to convince me to drink juice when I wanted water. I was probably four or something at that time. Mom said I was too stubborn to give in because my dad wouldn’t get me the water that I asked for.

When I know what I want, nobody can convince or persuade me to go for something else other than what I want. I mean what I say and say what I mean. If I say no, I mean it, and no amount of persuasion can make me say yes.

  1. Reticent

Contrary to what some people think, I am a very shy and reserved person. I may share some stuff to people at certain times but it takes me a quite while to do so. I also usually keep my comments to myself coz people usually misinterpret what I say and/or ignore what I say.

  1. Introvert

I love the peacefulness of being alone. Matter of fact, I usually spend my entire 9 or 10 hours in the office alone at my desk, except when someone comes along and decides to shatter my aloneness.

When I attend a party or a big event, I may either discreetly look for someone I know or stay in one corner and watch from there. I don’t usually mingle; I just keep to myself.

  1. Sensitive

I get affected easily by things that happen around me. I withdraw from something when I’m scolded.

  1. Boring

By now, you may have already guessed that I’m not the most outgoing person on this planet. I don’t party, I barely go out to have fun, I very rarely travel, I don’t dance, etc. Point in case: the beloved calls me killjoy. He decided to give me his iPod so I’d be “a little bit more appreciative of music” (his exact words). Just some clarification: I listen to music, except that most of what I listen to are songs from the past (think Frankie and the Rat Pack, Ella Fitzgerald, etc), classic tunes, some jazz, bossa nova, ballads and just a bit of R&B. I do listen to some alternative songs occasionally. He, on the other hand, has tons of hip hop and other danceable tunes on his newly purchased 120GB iPod.

Also, my writing is plain and boring. It needs a little kick, a little bit of spunk, a little bit of flavor. I guess my personality reflects in my writing, eh?

The seven lucky ladies are: (drumroll)

Golden of One Proud Mom, One Proud Wife
Shobe of Your Little Beauty Bag
Louie of I'm Uber Feminine
Jing of Girl With Glasses

Double Trouble

Nope, this is not what you think it is. I just can't think of a catchy title for my post today.

Since I'm way behind doing tags and posting awards, I thought it would be good to kill two birds with one stone while I'm grilling (yet again) in the office.

The first!

The adorable Nicole gave me this award a few weeks ago and it's only now that I had the chance to post it on my blog and pass it to equally beautiful and talented ladies. Thanks Nikkidoodle!

I'm passing award to the seven lovely ladies:

1. Shobe of Your Little Beauty Bag
- Shobe's cute in her own little way and I just adore how spontaneous and carefree she seems to be.

2. Dana of My Simple Randomness
- Dana actually found me on blogger. She left me a message on my Cbox sayi
ng how much she likes my eyebrows. Haha! She's so sweet and adorable. She always reads my posts (I think) and never fails to leave me a comment. I just love this girl!

3. Louise of I'm Uber Feminine
- I used to drool over Louie's FOTDs until I finally left her a comment. It act
ually all started from one simple comment and the rest was history.

4. Abby of Breathing Space

- Abby's musings are always a breath of fresh air. As much as I love make up and fashion, I enjoy reading something different at certain times. Her blog is one of those that I read, no matte
r how long her posts are.

5. Becks of Hedonist
- Becks has this humor I can't seem to describe and an honesty that borders sarcasm. Haha! Too cute!

6. Golden of One Proud Mom, One Proud Wife

- Golden's so sweet and friendly. I just adore her.

7. Becky of Embrace Your Imperfections
-
Ah! This girl's FOTDs are to die for. I especially love how s
he does smokey eyes.
NEXT STOP!!!

My Shobe gave me this award! Thanks Shobe dearest!

To accept this award do the following:

1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award.

2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.
5. Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.

6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they have been nominated.

Here are seven (somewhat) interesting facts about me

  1. Despite having a less than average Tagalog speaking skills, I managed to get good grades in my Filipino classes in high school, and Komunikasyon1 course in UP. How? My Filipino teacher in high school had a crush on me and he gave me grades in the line of 9 all the time. I won’t say I deserved those marks, but I did study hard to understand our lessons. On the other hand, I had someone help me with my papers for my Komunikasyon1 class. I did all the thinking and I did try to write my own sentences, but I had someone help me iron my sentences.

  1. I know how to do household chores. I may seem like another Jessica Simpson or Paris Hilton (I’m sure you know how she was in her reality show, The Simple Life) in the sense that these girls know nothing else aside from prettifying themselves (one of the episode’s of Jess and her ex-hubby Nick’s defunct show on MTV, The Newlyweds, showed how stupid she can be that she can’t even make her bed), I do know how to cook, do the laundry, iron, etc. I just have no time to do these things now that I spend most of my waking hours in the workplace.

  1. I don’t own any flats; the ones I had when I was younger have already been tossed in the bin. The reason behind this is that I cannot walk in flats; I lose my balance when I do.

  1. I’m a stilettos girl. I love stilettos so much that I wear them every day. I find them so comfortable; I can even run in 4.5inch stilettos! The beloved tells me not to as I might twist my ankle or break a bone, but because I’m too stubborn, I still run in my favorite sky high heels.

  1. I don’t like rice but I can gobble up 8 rolls (or makis as people call them) in one sitting especially if it’s my favorite Hot Shot Roll from Red Kimono.

  1. I don’t like onions, garlic and bell peppers. If my food has so much of these, I dissect my food. I can’t stand how these taste coz they taste just oh so nasty. I only eat them when I eat pizza. Strange, I know.

  1. I’m stingy! Hahaha! Even if I seem to spend a lot on everything that a girl drools for, I’m really stingy. I usually go overboard with my spending when I’m stressed.

Since I have to adhere to the rules, I'll pass this award to the seven lucky ladies:

Nehs of Nehsai Loves "N"
The Toothfairy!
Shelley of Funkimonkee
Rosamond of Beari's Beauties
Puff of Oh Puffcake
Meii of Live.Laugh.&Love
Purple Strawberry of Blue Skies and Strawberry Pies

Honest Scrap Award

I owe everybody a lot, specifically an apology. My hectic lifestyle (more like my work) is really taking its toll on me and everything else. A lot of people are complaining about how I don't return their messages, calls, etc. and how I don't have time to sit down and talk to them or go out with them. My usual excuse, "I'm busy," may seem way too overrated already but that's just simply the truth. If I could go and take a one week vacation, I would. I owe my body a break. My body deserves a treat after two years of barely any holidays (our company does not observe Philippine holidays except for Christmas, New Year and Holy Week) To the bloggers who leave me comments or messages on my chatbox, I'm sorry if I rarely leave you comments. I read all your posts but I just never get the chance to park for a bit since I'm always in a hurry. To those who have requested me to do a tutorial (specifically on Beanne's look), I'm so sorry. If I had the luxury of time to be playing with make up all day, I'll surely be able to do so much varied looks. To those who have tagged me on several occasions, I'm sorry I never got to doing it. And speaking of which, here's my post on the Honest Scrap Award. I was tagged by Puff of Oh Puffcake (and others I can't remember anymore. I'm terribly sorry) ages ago and it's only now that I am writing about it.

Rules:
Tell your readers 10 things about you that they may or may not know, but are true. Tag ten people with the award, and be sure to let them know they've been tagged (a quick comment on their blog will do). Don't forget to link back to the blogger who tagged you.

  1. I was anorexic for about 7years. It was a tough battle. There were times when I wouldn’t eat anything for months and my only source of energy would be a bite off of a chocolate bar. I didn’t realize that I was already anorexic until my sister who was then studying psychology, kept teasing me about it. I always denied (to myself and others) that I indeed was anorexic, until I pulled out my sister’s readings on psychology. If my memory serves me right, it was the tenth chapter of the book that discussed the symptoms and treatments for these eating disorders. Upon reading the symptoms of anorexia nervosa, I came to my senses. If the article listed 10symptoms of anorexia, 8 of those were evident in me. It wasn’t until last year that I overcame anorexia nervosa. However, I still can’t say that I have already completely overcome it because I still get bouts of anorexia every few months.

  1. I was diagnosed with a rare and incurable disease when I was 12, and if that wasn’t enough, I was diagnosed with a heart problem early this year. My life has never been the same since those days that I was diagnosed, and up to this day, I struggle to live a normal life devoid of any limitations and restrictions. To people, I don’t look handicapped. In fact, no one ever believes me when I tell them that I have a number of diseases. Sometimes it’s quite a good thing that no one thinks I am sick, but at times, I hope someone would believe me and not think that I am malingering to get away with things. I’m aware that my appearance does not reflect anything of that sort, and for that, I am honestly thankful to God. At least I’m not walking around with a banner hanging from my neck saying, “Look at me, I’m sick!” Over the past decade, I have experienced pain and suffering which have made me the person that I am today --- strong and unwavering.

  1. I was a cheerleader. Honestly, I find it funny how I became a cheerleader when I hate dancing. I’m not even good at it! I don’t even know how to! I can’t tell you much about it, but whenever my friends from way back would talk about our cheerleading days, I wish my seat would just swallow me whole. I am too embarrassed to even think about it. Sometimes I wish I could burn all those photos where I was caught doing those silly cheerleading moves.

  1. My first language was English. I and my siblings were trained to speak in English at home (my mom would always brag about me saying the word helicopter perfectly at 11months!). All of us learned Tagalog in school and from our childhood friends. However, being that I grew up in a gated subdivision where elites make up the total population, I never had friends who spoke Tagalog. It was in school that I learned how to speak Tagalog, enough for me to survive daily conversations. I cannot write nor read in Tagalog; my syllabication is just so wrong. Even though I can speak a bit of Tagalog, I’m always teased at how my accent sounds. I try to sound like most Filipinos do when they speak Tagalog, but most of the times, my accent sounds a little too forced and strange.

  1. I am an artist in my own right. I used to paint, design gowns and dresses, sketch, crochet and sew; however, a lot of my art projects were never finished. Whenever I find something that’s more interesting than the current project I’m working on, I leave it and get my hands on another project. I heard from other artist friends that this is how most artists are. Aside from visual arts, I’m also into performing (except dancing) and culinary arts. I sing and act (I was a theater actress for two years) and model (if you would call this art).

  1. I am a seasonal (pesca) vegetarian. I can see eyebrows raising right now, asking how this can be so. It’s simple. I can be a vegetarian for a few months, break it for a couple of months and go back to being vegetarian. I was a strict vegan when I was in high school. No meat --- pork (I never liked pork anyway), beef, and even chicken, no processed foods, no junk foods. After some time, I became anorexic. When I was recovering from anorexia, I started eating chicken, chips and all that, except beef and pork. I’m not a vegetarian right now coz I eat chicken, but I’m planning to go back to going green.

  1. I was never breastfed. My mom would always tell people that I was strange as a baby. She said I never liked her milk, regardless of where she’d put it --- in a glass or a feeding bottle --- she just couldn’t trick me to drinking her milk. Strange as it is, I don’t feel weird nor embarrassed to tell people about it. I feel so special hearing that I’m one out of a million kids who never liked my mother’s milk!
  1. The only public transportation that I know how to take is the cab (and tricycle --- the Filipino model --- but hey, is there anybody who doesn’t know how to take a tricycle?). Embarrassing it is, I know. Because I always had someone driving me around, I never learned how to take the jeepney, train, or bus. I would probably hop in to one of these granted that I am accompanied by someone, but alone, I can’t. There were times that I attempted to, but I always chickened out and ended up hailing a cab.

  1. I am an indoor girl. I don’t play any sport, I don’t know how to ride a bike or skate, and I don’t know how to do outdoor activities. I may have gone hiking more than a couple of times in the past, but I always showed up looking like I was going for a stroll at the park. Because of this, I’m frequently called an “indoor girl” or a “blonde.” No offense to blondes, but I’m sure everyone has heard of a blond joke at one time or another. I know it’s not fair to label and stereotype people, but sadly, this is how a lot of people are.

  1. I’m an OC.

#1 Proof: Before I leave for work, I check my purse about three or four times to make sure that all that I need for work is there and then a few steps after walking out of the house, I stop and open my purse one last time to check for some items that I may have missed.

#2 Proof: Back when I used to store my lipsticks in an upright position in a plastic container, I would fix them every single day to make sure that the same brands (sometimes shades) are grouped together, and every time I see one lippie missing or placed somewhere, I get so pissed and arrange them again.

#3 Proof: The clothes in my closet are arranged in either of these three ways: 1. according to the hanger’s colors. We have quite a lot of hangers, and only about 10 or 20 of them are of the same kind. I love how my closet looks like when hangers of the same colors are grouped together; 2. According to the color of the clothes. I put the black skirts together; the blue tops together and so on. I’m crazy like that; 3. According to the style. I sometimes group my clothes according to the sleeve’s length. All the short-sleeved ones are grouped together and so are the long-sleeved ones. The skirts of the same cut are likewise grouped together. My dresses are all in a separate closet (I have a bunch!).

I could go on and on giving proofs of how much of an OC I am but I’d rather not. Someone might call the mental health association and report me! Haha!

Well, that’s gonna be it for me tonight. I never knew writing ten random things about yourself could be so hard. It took me close to an hour writing these things down.

Because I feel like I'm the last to do this, I'll tag anyone who hasn't done it yet. It's a bit tough, but fun. Enjoy reading! It’s midnight now and I should be going back to reading.

Realizations + Blog Award

I just realized that I look better tanned than fair.

I know a lot of Filipinas who would do everything just to look like Caucasians; and while I find nothing extremely wrong or bad about it, I just wish that we would also learn to love our own skin. Whites love our healthy glow so much that they sometimes tend to overdose on tanning products and bronzers (think Donatella Versace, Lauren Conrad, etc) just to achieve the same look. On the other hand, we Filipinas indulge in all the whitening products available in the market just to look ghostly pale, b
ecause we think that we'd be prettier if we were fairer. That's where we are wrong. Looking good doesn't depend on your skin color but on how clear your skin is, which is the result of how well you take care of your skin.

Below are two of my recent shots. first photo: Bronzed; second photo: ghostly pale

I like me more in the first picture. Hmmm... I should get a nice tan now while I can.

On a side note, I received my first blog award from Parisky of XOXO Parisky. Thank you dearie!
