FOTD: Pretty in Pink

On my last visit to Etude House (I haven't been there since the first week of January), I picked up the duo fiber brush which I had reserved late December. Of course, I stayed a wee bit longer and looked around for other things that I can throw into my cutesy shopping basket. Aside from the duo fiber brush, I also threw in a Romantic Beauty Brush, two bottles of Petite Darling nail polishes, two bottles of Dear Darling nail polishes, and a Petite Darling Lipstick. After paying for everything, I rushed home to nurse my feverish beloved and to look into my cutesy shopping bag to admire the items that I got only to find out that I have the wrong lipstick shade! I originally wanted to get the shade BR302, but since I had so much difficulty looking for the shade in the counter, I had an SA assist me. When I was handed a tube of lipstick, I threw it into my basket without even checking if it was in the shade that I wanted. So when I opened the tube at home, I was appalled by a shocking pick hue! I felt frustrated and disappointed and immediately wanted to go back and have it exchanged for what I had asked for. But time wasn't on my side as I still had to go to work. Besides, I was feeling a bit lazy to go back to return the item. So I kept it and thought of playing and experimenting with it when I get the time to. Luckily, the perfect time came.

Since office clothes can be a bit boring (especially for someone as young as I am), I always spice up my outfits by accessorizing and by wearing makeup. Though I normally match my eye makeup with my outfits, I thought of doing something different for a meeting at work. So while getting ready, I looked into my lipstick stash and searched for a nice shade to compliment and brighten my usual black-and-white combo. That's when I picked up the cute little pick tube and a light bulb lit up.

Since the shade is a shocking pink, I opted for something light to balance out the entire look and to let my puckers be the center of attention. Who knew I'd have use for something this scandalous?

I wasn't really planning on curling my hair that day but I did coz I had enough time to kill.

And of course, some eye shots.

FOTD: Golden Bronze

Whenever I'm stuck in a rut, I go for a no-brainer-look using bronzes and golds. This, for me, is the easiest look I can come up with when I'm in a rush or when I lack creativity. Don't get me wrong. This no-brainer-look isn't what you think it is. I actually love this look because of its ability to make me look polished and glam with very little effort. Now isn't that a good thing?

See what I mean?

This was the look that I wore when I was asked by our ISP's technical engineer if I was a celebrity. I said "no," of course, but that comment left me surprised and well, flattered, because my makeup that day was simple and a bit boring.

On Eyes
Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean
Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette
Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Black
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Zero
Covergirl Lashblast Mascara
L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara
L'Oreal Telescopic Clean Definition Mascara

On Face
Foundation Primer (can't remember the brand. I threw away the box when I got it)
Skinfood Peach Sake BB Cream #2
Skinfood Salmon Dark Circle Concealer Cream
Pureglow Minerals Eye Brightener
Pureglow Minerals Eye Wake
Bare Naturals Mineral Foundation in Light Medium
MUFE HD Powder
Milani Glimmer Stripes in Bronze Glimmer (used as blush and highlight)
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzing Powder

On Lips
Maui Lipbalm
NYX Round Lipstick in Perfect
Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze in Forever Fig

By the way, I didn't go to work wearing only this tank top that I got from Charry's blogsale. I actually wore a blazer on top of it.

If you're wondering why the lighting looks a bit odd (especially in the last two photos), it's all because I was playing with two different cameras that day. Plus, the sun always plays games with me.

Do you ever get stuck in a rut sometimes? How do you prep yourself when you're stuck in a rut? Let me know! I'm curious :)

Christmas Party EOTD and Some Snippets

I love to dress up and I'm sure every girl does. This is perhaps the main reason why, despite being a (self-confessed) party pooper, I still attend parties. Contrary to what people think of parties --- the perfect time to get drunk and go crazy --- parties are the perfect occasion to dress up and wear flashy makeup. So what do I do in parties? Sit in one corner and look pretty. I kid you not. I'm the one of the most boring people on this planet. Even my beloved agrees with me.

Putting all that aside, I actually just wanted to show you my makeup on our company's Christmas party. It wasn't a big production like what we had the other year, but it was still okay. What do you expect a party pooper to say?

So below is a shot of my eyes, which I cropped from the only [half]decent solo picture that I had that night. This was taken a good 3hours after I applied my makeup so it was still pretty fresh. Actually, my makeup looked fresh even until after the party. I'd love to show you a closed-eye shot so you'd get a better picture of how my eye makeup looks, but unfortunately, I don't have any. My beloved and I (yes, he's always invit
ed to our company's Christmas parties) didn't have any spare time to take some shots before going to the party. Bummer.

I used quite a handful of products for my makeup that day but I'm not sure if I remember everything (my memory isn't all that sharp at my age).

For my eyes, I used UDPP, Urban Decay eyeshadows in Flipside, Misdemeanor, Half Baked and Perversion, 96 Color Palette (2 green shades), my trusty ol' waterproof liquid eyeliner from Fashion21 (cheap-o, but performs really well), an eye pencil in green from Maybelline, falsies from The Face Shop and my trusty L'oreal mascaras.

My EOTD

And here are the snippets!

I felt like I was Kim K. haha!

A very awkward pose

My first photo of the night

Just before passing the crown and scepter to Toni (not a very good shot, though)

Camwhoring with Toni (doesn't she remind you a little bit of Sandara Park?)

Sporting an afro

Towards the end of the night. My makeup still looks pretty fresh, eh?

Do you love to party? Oh, I think I know the answer!

FOTD: Silvery Blue with Warm Touches

2010 is roughly 12hours away from now, at least on my side of the globe. And as much as I want to, I won't be able to write a "2009 in a nutshell" or a post something like it because I'm just about to enslave myself to the kitchen to cook up something for media noche (midnight meal). I probably will write about 2009 tomorrow or the day after or whenever I get time to sit in front of my laptop and type away. So for now, I'll leave you with yesterday's EOTD/FOTD. Is there a better way to end the year?

I hope you can see a bit of the peachy-gold wash above the crease. It's so hard to capture everything in pictures especially when you're taking them yourself

FOTD: Jewel Pop

Eversince I got my grubby hands on Urban Decay's Book of Shadows Volume II, I've never bothered to play with the eyeshadows in my Too Faced Glamour Revolution Palette. The Chocolate Soleil Bronzing Powder and La Vie En Rose Brightening Blush included in the Too Faced Palette are my go-to bronzer and blush. But the eyeshadows, ehhhh... not so much. They're gorgeous, yes, but I haven't had that much use out of them (except perhaps for Milk Chocolate, but only for a short period). And so because I felt I was being unfair to my Too Faced Glamour Revolution Palette, I decided to play with the eyeshadows for my FOTD today. Oh, if you're wondering why I called this look Jewel Pop, it's because of that jewel toned eyeliner from Maybelline Eye Studio which I put on my waterline for a pop of color. Bright colors just add a different touch to my overall look; hence, the green liner.

Lashes uncurled. I'm often too lazy to curl my lashes, coz ugh... I'm just lazy.

On Eyes (All are Too Faced unless mentioned)

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Revlon Illuminance Cream Eyeshadows in Pink Petals (used the second from the left. it's a rosey cream shadow with gold shimmer to it)
Glamazon (on lid passing the crease a little bit)
Urban Decay YDK (above the crease)
Urban Decay Mushroom (on the crease)
Dirt Bag (on the crease)
Urban Decay Sellout (inner corner)
Milani Eyeshadow in Almondine (highlight)
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Black
Maybelline Eye Studio Vivid&Smooth Liner in Green
L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara
L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara
L'Oreal Clean Definition Telescopic Mascara (on lower lashes)

NYX Roud Lipstick in Tea Rose on my lips topped with Maybelline Shine Seduction Glossy Lipcolor in Candy Desire 130.

On Face

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
MUFE HD Powder
Bare Naturals Foundistay in Olive Light Medium (just a light dusting of it before applying Revlon's Custom Creations Foundation)
Revlon Custom Creations Foundation in Light Medium
Pureglow Mineral Cosmetics Tonic Liquid Concealer
Pureglow Mineral Cosmetics Eye Brightener
Pureglow Mineral Cosmetics Concealer in Eye Wake
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzing Powder
Too Faced La Vie En Rose Brightening Blush

I also felt like playing with my camera's settings today as you probably can tell.

And that's about it! I'll be working tomorrow too, so Happy holidays to everyone!

FOTD: Gray Matter

After a trip down the 50s, I plunge back to the present age where beauty is with an edge.

NOTE: This was a look that I sported exactly a week ago, but wasn't able to post on blogger because my DSL at home was and still is acting up.

Last week was rough and tough. My personal and professional life overwhelmed me with so much more than what I can handle. I frequently cried and barely ate because of depression which explains my gloomy brown eyes in the photos below. I had no joy in me but I tried, nevertheless, to carry myself as if nothing had happened.

For this look, I used Gunmetal on my entire lid with Perversion on the outer V and crease. I used UD 24/7 eye pencil in Zero to line my upper line, and Oil Slick on my lower lashline which I smudged with Gunmetal.

Doe-eyed

Smile when your heart is breaking

Forced smile

Eyeshots
No, this isn't blurry. My eyes were still watery from a crying spree

Since gloomy days are over, I'll have more fun and bold looks coming pretty soon.

FOTD: Antique Gold

Here's an EOTD that I did sometime last week using my UD BOS Vol. II. I won't be talking much about it in this post since I had already written a review on it a some time ago.

For this look, I used all of the neutral shades in the palette - Nylon, Sellout, YDK, Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, Twice Baked and Half Baked. I don't remember too well where I put each of the shades, except for Twice Baked which of course was applied to the outer corner/V and crease to create more depth and to add dimension. Other than that and Sellout which I used as a highlight shade (used with a fluffy brush), I don't remember where the other colors went. Nevertheless, I liked the end result --- a nice antique gold that's not too golden for my liking.

I'm pretty sure that I lined my upper lashline when I did this, but I can't recall what I lined my upper lashline with.

For my lower lashline, I used my UD 24/7 eye pencil in Stash, a very pretty dark golden green shade, to compliment the colors on my lids.

Ladies, if you don't own this palette yet, grab it while it's hot. Although it might still be around till early next year (hopefully), you'll never know when UD or Sephora will run out of stocks. So while you can, grab one. Trust me, you won't suffer from "buyer's remorse" (hopefully) after purchasing it. Since this palette arrived in my hands not too long ago, I haven't touched most of my other eyeshadows (except for my 88 Warm Palette) and even pigments. It may be bulky and heavy and all, but the eyeshadows and eye pencils compensate for all my qualms. I am head over heels in love with this hottie! So much more than the eyeshadows in my Too Faced Glamour Revolution Palette.

Not a very good shot, but... eh? I just wanted to show you how Avon's Ultra Moisture Rich 24k Lipstick in Golden Peach looks on my lips. It's sheer but buildable but it isn't as opaque as I wish it was. It's also a bit tough to work with, but a lip brush should solve the issue.

Till then!
