FOTD: Glowing in Simplicity

Since I have been rocking bold eye makeup for the last couple of months (with last week as an exception since I was sick and had no time and interest to wear makeup), I thought it'd be nice to sport a neutral eye makeup for some much needed variety. I must admit, however, that I'm not as good with neutral eye makeup as I am with smokey and bold looks (not that I am claiming to be good at it). Although my love affair with eyeshadows began with wearing and experimenting with neutral eye makeup, I was never able to fully master the art of mix-matching neutral shades and wearing it. I favor [slightly] dark and bold eye makeup on myself as it makes me look more like my age. More mature, if I may say. Without makeup, some mistake me for a freshie in high school. In other words, I look like a kid (one of my people at work was appalled upon seeing how young I look with a plain face. She said I could even be mistaken for a middle school student without makeup.) I love looking young (and I'm sure I'd love it more when I hit my 40's!), but I find it frustrating looking like a kid. It's not flattering at all. Thanks to the wonders of cosmetics, I get to play with my [utterly] soft features and draw on a more mature and polished look!

For this particular look, I used George and Weezie (on the inner corner), Milk Chocolate (on the brow bone) and Dirt Bag (on the crease) from the Too Faced Glamour Revolution Palette and a few other shades from my 88 Warm Palette (I am in love with this!). I did quite a lot of blending on the crease as I used more than the usual number of crease colors. Four, I believe. I also added a touch of definition on the outer V using a matte dark brown shadow from my Warm Palette. And although I used a black liquid liner on my upper lash line, I kept the line thin and fine from the inner corner all the way to the outer edge of my eyes. For the lower lash line, I used my UD 24/7 pencil liner in Corrupt and smudged it with a bronzey eyeshadow from my Warm Palette. On my cheeks, I have on my ELF Studio Blush in Peachy Keen coupled with a bit of contouring using my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder. On my lips is NYX Round Lipstick in Thalia topped with Too Faced Mirror-Mirror lipgloss in I'm Perfect. As for my foundation, I'm wearing Pureglow Minerals in Hazelnut Latte (my review on this mineral foundation is in the works, so stay tuned).

To see the evidence of some major camwhoring session, scroll down. Do take note, however, that these photos were taken 8hours after makeup application which should explain the lack of a decent closed eye shot of my eye makeup.

By the way, all these photos were taken with my new point & shoot camera from Sony. I think the pictures came out good (I didn't use any flash!) though the lighting at my office isn't so great. Something tells me that the quality of my future FOTD photos will be better (given that I have better lighting, of course) than the old ones which I took with my old Sony digicam. Of course, nothing compares to the quality of the photos taken with my beloved's DSLR.

On my nails, Caronia's Pink Passion. I'm gon do something fun with it tomorrow so keep an eye out for an NOTW post (I have a bunch of N/KOTWs that I should've posted ages ago but I've been too busy to blog)

I wish you could see the details on the crease:( where I added a wash of a pale plum and of a pale shimmery gold, If only I had better lighting :(

And here are some crazy shots of myself to prove that I eat. Gone are my anorexia days, baby!

Before I forget, my messy waves were the product of John Frieda's Curl Perfecting Spray and Avon's pillow curlers.

Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

I love the third photo Tish. You look wonderful. I'm still no good with eye makeup but I often go for natural looking ones, this is my ideal. Love it!

@Jing: Thanks, Jing. It's fun to let loose sometimes.

@Thiamere: Yup! I've been eating lately [which explains the fat arms and big tumtums].

Thanks Thia, I kinda like that one too.

Thanks Teeyah!

@Kay: Thanks, Kay. I think I look better with wavy hair; my friends think so, too. But doing that everyday takes quite a lot of work. Sigh.

@Ida: I was like that when I started wearing eye makeup everyday to work. After some time, I got stuck in a rut and got bored with the repetitive looks I was doing which led me to start playing with colors. That's when I discovered how fun and exciting it is to wear colors every now and then.

@Ash Tan: Thanks! I honestly suck at making catchy titles [I'm one helluva boring person], so I stuck with this.

Oh my gosh, I lknow how you feel when it comes to looking young. I looks really young too without makeup and people sometimes mistaken me for being in High School! Even though I'm walking around on my school's university >__< But yes, makeup works wonders! :D gotta love the stuff.

I love the photos & I loved the photos with you eating even more! I'm glad that you're eating, I know how hard it is to bounce back from those anorexia days. Because I get stuck in a rut sometimes even still and need to remind myself to eat. Keep it up hun~

@Dana: Well hello there twin sister. Seems like we're adding one more to our list of similarities. Ahhh... Can you imagine me as a boss? Gee... It's an extra effort on my part to look a bit more mature since I'm too kiddie looking.

I love makeup, too! :)

@Dang: Haha! Thanks, sweetest.

@Pammy: That's actually my favorite! Ahhh... Looking young has its yays and nays.

@acutelife: Oh, is it so? I have friends who look like there age. Could it be because of my soft features?
